Wishlists are Always Blog Fodder.

So I thought it would be fun to do a little wishlist for myself because... why not? I've been browsing Amazon and Etsy a lot more lately and it just seems like a fun idea. Yes, I know Christmas has come and gone, but I think these are things that I would like to have in the coming year.

WARMEN Classic Women's Gloves

• Some Nice Gloves

Yes, yes, yes. I could knit myself some mittens and hand warmers. And I will. But I would also like something NICE. Leather gloves. With maybe some cashmere or something. Heck, maybe even some more practical gloves with the fingertips that can work on smart phones: I would never have to take off a glove to type a message, ever again! Especially when it's freezing and cold!

• A New Perfume

The Boy gifted me a beautiful bottle of Chanel's "CHANCE" which I absolutely adore. But, maybe something new to mix it up? Fragrances are always so lovely and such a treat to wear. I actually love looking forward to it being a perfume-sorta-night. It feels so much more delicate and fun.

These last few months I've come to the realization that I'm finally able to really embrace rings as an accessory. It's not that I've ever disliked them... but I have very clear memories of my Grandma's big, sharp rings getting caught in my hair whenever I'd play dress-up. But now, I think I'm finally ready. I don't even know what my ring size is, though, how embarrassing! I have ridiculously thin fingers, though, so that'll be a hassle.

There can never be enough! Somehow, I don't think I have nearly enough patterns- contemporary, vintage reproduction, Japanese--- or let alone real vintage patterns! Granted, I've just barely started acquiring a taste for them over the past few months and an understanding of how they work. My first pattern-experience was at age 13: making a flapper dress for Halloween that turned horribly, horribly wrong. But now, I have a hunger for more! I see more possibilities in them now than I ever used to. I guess it mostly has to do with actually being able to work with the instructions now...!

I really have nothing else to really add to this besides how much I enjoy drinking tea. Coffee is delicious-- but tea? So much more fun and fancy to me- so much more high class! Either way, tea samplers, fancy imported tea that needs to be steeped juuuuust right... I just have to finish drinking all the tea I have right now before I start acquiring more for my collection. 

I Want an Ugly Man Sweater.

It's September and what does that mean to me? I have better start knitting, otherwise I'll not be prepared for when the real cold hits! So far right now there is still time to start knitting up a storm-- but if I wait until the end of October I won't finish in time!

A few weeks ago I posted a Polyvore set with a 300$ MAJE sweater and I've been scouring Ravelry for similar sweaters that won't make me go insane. I want a cable knit sweater, but here are my main dilemmas: I've never made knit sweaters before. Also, I've never made cables in a knitted garment. Both I hear are relatively easy feats- but I know I intimidate myself without a doubt... especially since most of the patterns I've come across involve charted directions.

Cables and Lace Cardigan

This sweater is kind of fitting the mood that I wanted to go with-- chunky "whatever" sweater that is bulky and with little shape. I know that sounds super weird... but I want a sweater I can throw over cute dresses and that really balance out the look. Cute dress, tights, fedora, oxfords-- and a chunky, big sweater. The sleeves would probably be made longer, though, because 3/4? Only in moderate climates. 

Stonecutters Cardigan

Lots of cables- lots. But the collar is my favorite part of this particular piece. And-- generally this sort of look doesn't ever really lose its appeal. But so many cables! Eep.

Rosewood Cardigan

I really like this sweater because it's simple and to the point. Plus it looks like the majority of it is made in stockinette with just the single cable along the edge-- enough to get my feet wet when it comes to that design motif! Paid pattern, however.

Aidez

Of all the patterns I saw, Aidez is my favorite. It has enough variety to be exciting and it also looks like it'd be fun and challenging. The big cable pattern on the back also looks delicious!

Most of the patterns I've found require 1000+ yards of yarn... so as much as I would love this sweater to be something awesome like angora or alpaca- I may have to settle for something less luxurious. But,  I think if I can source something online, I may be able to figure out how to use something delicious. I'll probably be getting supplies in a little over a week... Anyone down for a fall sweater knit-along?

I'm going to openly say that I'm tired of scrolling between tons and tons of images of the past fashion

weeks! It's not to say I didn't like them: to the contrary, I was really attracted to a lot of what I came across. It's just there was so much I liked, I knew it would be hard to narrow down what I wanted to post as inspiration.

As I wrote in my pre-fall post, I'm very predictable in terms of things I like... but oh well. Here are some things I saw in Fall 2012 that I would love to own, or at least, love to accessorize from!

Even though it's rainy and damn cold here in SF, I'm all ready dreaming of warmer weather and the garments that go with it-- especially the shoes! I'm very determined to invest in a cute pair of comfortable, COLORFUL wedges and I will not let the weather deter me. Here are some I've been eyeballing online-- where I can at least dream! I don't think I'll be able to get a new pair of wedges for at least another month, however.

Wishlist: Spring 2012

Want want want.

There, I said it. I relinquish feelings of guilt over wanting beautiful things and products and gah. It's almost guaranteed that I'm going to feel guilty and just bad about wanting wonderful things, but as of this point, even if I never go about acquiring anything on this list, I can dream.

Nail polishes are all from OPI's Holland collection. The blue is called I Have a Herring Problem which will look beautiful in my collection of polishes. Turns out I have absolutely no blues in my selection and I have to start remedying that! From all the swatches I've seen, it looks like sea blue/green with some subtle copper/gold-ish shimmer. I like how it isn't ridiculously flashy but it's also still more complex than a straight blue.

The middle polish is Did you 'Ear about Van Gogh? -- and how cute is that name? I am looking forward to having manikin hands every once in a while this season-- I'm not ashamed! I like how it's so subtle but so pretty in all the swatches. I have similar shades in my collection but they're all quite terrible: all of them dry with absolutely no opacity. To even get anywhere near any coverage takes 4+ coats and I'm sick of it! Time to get something from a brand I love which I'm sure will get the job done!

Then lastly, A Roll in the Hauge which is basically OPI's Tangerine Tango! I have a similar color in Essie's Brazilliant... but not really. I don't like how Brazilliant dries to a matte-shimmer hybrid with hints of blue while still being absolutely FLAT. All the swatches I've seen of A Roll in the Hauge tells me the polish is right up my alley and dries with glossy finish.


The rest of my selections are from MAC which I'm absolutely obsessed with! Everything I chose is from the Shop, Shop, Shop. Cook, Cook, Cook (S3/C3) collection which is so fun and a great way to kick off the spring colors. I will preface the entire thing with saying that the collection comes out in 2 weeks and there are few, IF ANY, swatches of this out and about. I'm making my Wish List decisions based off product images alone. And also, because I'm lazy and I typed out all my reasoning at Specktra, I'm just copying and pasting what I wrote there!


Call Me Bubbles quad
A lot of orange hues but when I finally (?!!) buy Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette, it'd be fun to use the two in conjunction with one another. Plus Fresh Daily is close enough to Tangerine Tango that I'd be using this color all year long for sure. I also don't have anything like Brash or Full of Flavour in my collection which I know I'll use.

Watch Me Simmer lipstick
I have nothing like this in my collection and I think it's a nice toned down coral/orange-yyyy thing less so than some of the ones in Iris Apsel for MAC collection. I love bright lips but my lipstick drawer is lacking practicality!


Florida cremeblend blush
(Hahaaa- I'm sensing a theme here!) I have nothing but pinks and a couple brozers for blushes and this cremeblend just screams spring and summer to me! I think I'd probably have to have a really light hand on this blush but it'd be so fun play with this! I also love using my blushes as e/s and I think this is so vibrant and yummy.



Am I totally embracing this Tangerine Tango? Oh yes-- deliciously so. After writing that post about it a while back, I'm honestly looking forward to it adding some excitement to the dreary, foggy, San Francisco days that are to come. Yes, it might be raining out, but I'll be rocking orange shades and loving every minute of it.
