He can only do calligraphy with his left hand.

I really wouldn't have believed that Balenciaga would be up my alley, but I will bluntly say that I'm extremely intrigued. The de Young museum here in San Francisco is hosting Balenciaga and Spain which I've been dying to go to. Everything I've heard and studied about Balenciaga has always been so interesting so you can imagine my surprise when I found out about a free lecture taking place; I knew it'd be my in!

I learned some amazing things like how Balenciaga never used darts on his designs-- it was all through skill and knowledge of the form that he was able to create such beautiful clothing. It was also enough for Yves Saint Laurent to proclaim that only YSL, Chanel, and Balenciaga were the only real designers. And to be honest, I can't help but feel jealous that he also opened his first boutique at 23 when I'm 25 and haven't even accomplished something similar!

Looking forward to the exhibit when the spare money comes along!
