Icy Lemon Bread.

Spring Break is next week and it's not really much of a break. I'll still be working, but will get 2 days off right before the weekend which I'm looking forward to. Right now, I'm kind of over my head with all the projects I'm in the middle of... I want to work on them all, and not work on them, all at once! How weird is that? I think taking the approach of timeliness + how far along each project is to completion is probably the best plan of attack.

Also, looking forward to Sunday. I'm not Christian, so Easter isn't a thing for me. But the Hunky Jesus competition is so San Francisco and I'm looking forward to checking it out!

And yey for reviving my Poupee Girl account which my boyfriend regards as "Poop-y Girl" and my ultimate time waster (true, it's worse than Pinterest for me.) I think it'd be fun to use it to categorize all the random stuff I own, starting with my makeup and nail polish obsession. Judge me all you want, I love cute shit like this.

Texas was definitely a change of pace for me! It was a lot more vast than I had expected; having that much space is always a little bizarre for me. I'm so used to living in suburbia or densely populated areas so empty space amazes me.

I think next time I head out to Texas, I'll be a little more prepared for the experience. For some reason, I left San Antonio feeling like more could have been done with my time there and I didn't really get to see what the city had to offer. I will say, though, that it was great spending some time with my brother and see him so grown up. It's astounding what two months did to his personality and just generally how he carries himself. I'm really proud of him.

Without a doubt, I have to remind myself repeatedly that my trip to San Antonio next month isn't a trip for me! My little brother is graduating from one of the military branches in the city and I have to be there to support. But still, the city of San Antonio is really starting to intrigue me as I look at all the pictures I've recently come across... and I'm excited!

I can't easily hide that I'm definitely not in line with the regional politics-- nor am I necessarily culturally drawn to the state. I haven't been there since I was maybe six years old but I'm looking forward to a change of pace for a couple days.

Natural Bridge Caverns

I can only hope I get to see something out of the ordinary while I'm down there! And the food... well, I'm not normally into Tex-Mex but I'm willing to give it a try while I'm there. Plus I can't deny I'll be loving the warm weather when I visit-- I'm pulling out some dresses and heels to rock the mini-vacation! Can't wait!

So if you follow me on Twitter, you may have gathered that I started a brand new venture on Etsy, Aquavert, which I had to neglect over the holidays. I really pushed myself to get it up and running before Black Friday (which I did)-- but had to quickly put it back on hold with the rush of finals and moving into my new apartment. I'm actually very excited to start getting it back and running, though!

My current goal is plain and simple: Have 100 different sleeves listed by March. Sounds like a weird one, but hear me out! The way I see it, the more items I put out there, there more demographics my sleeves will appeal to and the more people will be interested!

Either way, I'm finding one of the trickiest aspects of actually making the sleeves is finding beautiful fabric! I think this was an excellent reminder of why I want to become a textile designer... so I never have to deal with that problem again!

So while right now I'm still in the process of unpacking my sewing machine and getting into a frenzy of activity, I'll post up a few beautiful Liberty of London prints that would look so fun on a yummy cup of coffee. Yes, the fabric is a tad (lot) more expensive, I would like to at least have a few of them on my coffee sleeves- they're so classy and iconic!

 

Soooo beautiful! (Can I just get my degree all ready so I can go work for this company?) Even if my fabric stash is horrendously depleted, I still have a cute Dr. Seuss print fabric I intended for the holidays that could still be posted. I also have a bright blue reindeer print which I'll have to put aside until next year-- poor reindeer!

Acidic flowers and other assortments of THINGS hurt my eyes.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm really terrible at mailing things out to family. Making stuff is one thing, actually mailing stuff is another (unless its a sale, at which I get militant!).

I drew these flowers for Mother's Day cards, only one of which has been received by the corresponding mother. I really should mail them out...!!!
